The empty patient’s room had seen better days as well. The large medicine closet next to the door had been forced open, it’s contents partially missing. Something had pierced large holes into the bed and floor. The large medicine closet next to the door had been forced open, it’s contents partially missing. Something that was still in that same room, a broken down looking spider quickly became visible. Several mechanical parts were shattered across the room, waiting for someone to step on them. The main body had one of it’s claws pinning down some torn off rags. Not much thought could be spent on that though, the mechanical sounds approaching the room made it clear that the beetles had only served to delay the rest of the attackers. They would break through the door soon if not barricaded.

WH- WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BEETLES!?

WriggStar turned around to hear the terrifying sounds, then turned back to look around the room. The princess shivered as she tightened her grip on WriggStar, accidentally choking her.

“WAGH, PRINCESS! AIR, AIR, PLEASE!”
“Sorry…”
“Well, you’re feeling much bett-… BAH, WHAT AM I DOING, I GOTTA MOVE STUFF.”
“But, Wriggle…”
“Oh dammit, we’re suppose to look for her and get her out of this place. THIS FIRST, GET DOWN.”

Princess Wriggle got off WriggStar’s back and stepped aside as the hero scurried around the room, picking up any heavy things she could… well, pick up, and take it to the door..

The medicine closet was the first thing to go, crashing down in front of the door with the sound of breaking glass. The bed was next, mattress and frame dumped on the makeshift barricade. Not a moment too soon, as something started pounding on the other side of the door, attempting to break it down entirely.

There was only one heavy object left in the room now, the lifeless body of the mechanical spider. But one of it’s legs was stabbed at least 10 inches into the clinic floor, pinning some out-of-place rags to under it. The leg was lodged in too deep for Wriggstar to lift on her own.

The doctor wasted no time in plunging to the earth with an arrow readied and used the momentum to drive the projectile deep into the “skull” of the intruding mechanism. Eirin then quickly hopped off and flew down the hall at high speed to pursue the other intruders. She readied the defensive seals that she had been placing around Eientei recently and prepared to engage the enemies once again, confident in a quick victory

Even at the doctor’s impressive pace, the metallic invaders were hard to keep up with. At every corner Eirin turned, she could only just barely catch a glimpse of a hydraulic leg quickly scurrying out of sight. Not that she would lose track of them easily, the contraptions’ path of destruction clearly marked their route. Floorboards, walls, decorations, and pretty much anything else that had been unlucky enough to have been in their way had been ravaged. Pierced by unnaturally sharp legs.

Another corner turned, another glimpse. It quickly became clear that Eirin was headed towards the clinic’s patient rooms.

Yet another corner turned, but instead of a mechanism in the distance, she was was suddenly up close with a pair of invaders. They had stayed behind, hoping for an unsuspecting prey. A robotic screeching sound marked their leap towards the doctor.

Exams

Haven’t had a lot of time to spend on the events blog because of the exams, thanks for the patience.

One of the beetles struck the spider’s sharp leg as it rushed down towards the princess. The powerful insects hit the extremity with enough force the bend it’s path away from her head. It pierced the floor a couple of inches away from the side of the poor princess Wriggle’s face. More hits from the tiny soldiers bring the contraption off balance and it topples over, off of it’s victim. A mechanical screech can be heard as the spider’s legs trash violently in a vain attempt to get up. For a few seconds only scraping sounds can be heard, until the creature’s screech is answered in kind.

Slowly the sounds of more hydraulic spider legs creep up on the broken down clinic. The sounds seem to be coming from both the entrance and the only hallway deeper into the mansion, leaving an oddly familiar patients room as the only potential hiding place.

WriggStar quickly came into the room and picked up the princess, who was now frozen in fear.

“I know, I know. Traumatized from almost getting stabbed through the brain. Just piggyback on me from here on out, no need to talk unless you want to.” She moved the princess from her arms to her back and then looked over at the beetles. “You guys hear that? Go take those suckers down while I take her to a safe spot. NOW GO!” The beetles stormed out and separated into two swarms, charging into more combat. WriggStar secured her hold on the princess, left the trashed room, and quickly rushed into another room that hopefully isn’t as beat down.

The doctor roused slightly at the sound of heavy footfalls in the hallway from fleeing rabbits, only to be fully awakened by one forcing her door open and shouting for her to wake up. There was something strange nearby, that was all that Eirin could gather from the small creature.

Wasting no time, Eirin quickly threw on her dress and gathered her supplies to face an intruder if necessary, then made her way silently toward the clinic in order to intercept whatever had arrived.

It did not take long for Eirin to find the cause of the disturbance, or better put, for the cause of the disturbance to find her. She was making her way towards the clinic, the occasional fleeing rabbit brushing past her legs, when she turned a corner of another one of the mansion’s hallways. It was then that she stood face to face with the invaders.

The early morning’s faint sunlight shimmered off of four eight-legged metallic bodies. Two of them on the floor and one on each wall, their metal claws punching holes in the surfaces they move on. These bronze colored monstrosities, standing no higher than one’s knees, had been making their way though the mansion at a staggering pace, but halted abruptly when the doctor came into their field of vision. All 32 of their red glowing eyes now squarely fixed on her.

The sounds of their metallic legs slowly prowling forwards echos through the severely trashed hallway. They quickly topped by a hollow screeching sound as one of the two invaders on the floor lunges forward with surprising finesse. Sharp ends of two front legs flying towards Eirin like spears shot out of a cannon.

There was little room to maneuver, so Eirin took the first logical course of action and blasted through the roof into the sky above Eientei. She glared down at the mechanical creatures and began to loose large bolts of energy at their leg joins in an attempt to cripple them.

“More intruders. They will not find it so easy this time…”

The sounds of floorboards violently cracking apart under the power of the danmaku bolts reach Eirin’s heights. Duo to the contraptions’ sporadic leg movements most bolts do no more than bring the hallway into further disrepair. Yet it’s not long before an electric sounding jolt echoes through the sky as a bolt strikes home. The right kind of home.

The four spiders, having either exhausted their options or found something more interesting, retreat down their side of the mansion. Without hesitation or even a second glance at the flying doctor, they bolt through the hallway, into the direction of the clinic. All except one. Metal scrapes periodically scrapes over wood as a single monstrosity drags itself in the direction it’s companions have disappeared in. Two of it’s eight legs useless.

The clinic looked like it had housed a tornado for an hour or so. Anything that wasn’t bent was broken, anything that wasn’t broken was somehow pierced. Even some of the walls were damaged, covered in cracked holes as if Yuugi had gone around headbutting everything. One last lamp flickered and swung from a single electric line ominously before simply giving up and plummeting to the floor with the soft cracking sound of breaking glass.

The same sound can be heard again, as something crushes the light bulb beneath a sharp metallic leg. The next thing princess wriggle feels is a hard as metal body smashing against her with all its weight. Before she fully well realizes it, the princess is on the floor between the rubble, staring up at 8 red eyes of a mechanized spider-like contraption. The unnatural creature has already raised a single one of his eight sharp legs, looking to bring it down upon her head.

Princess Wriggle held her breath as her pupils dilated and her hands tightly grasped on the device. Please say this is just a dream, please say this is just a dream.

“DAMMIT, PRINCESS.”

Before she knew it, a swarm of rhino beetles busted into the room and repeatedly tackled one side of the spider, some even tackling the raised leg that was aiming for the princess, in hopes that it would topple over.

The closer the twins approach Eirin’s clinic, the more they notice something is off. Even with Eientei in sight not a single rabbit can be seen scurrying around the bamboo forest. Something else can be seen occasionally though, the morning sun’s reflection on a few smooth surfaces, quickly moving towards the mansion. The sun’s blinding reflected rays and she sheer speed of them makes the sources of these reflections impossible to make out, though.

When they arrive it becomes clear that there’s no need to knock, the clinic’s door has been knocked down, and there’s no Eirin in sight for that matter.

“Uhh, princess. Is the bad feeling in you getting worse?”
“… Maybe. But we don’t have time to think about that! We gotta get Wriggle out of here!”

Princess Wriggle went in first and quickly headed to Wriggle’s room. WriggStar, however, didn’t walk in as quickly. She just looked around and took her time getting to Wriggle’s room.

“Something’s… really off. Dangit, why does the Princess know what’s going on, but I get diddly squat?!”

The clinic looked like it had housed a tornado for an hour or so. Anything that wasn’t bent was broken, anything that wasn’t broken was somehow pierced. The first taps were fruitless, but after a third one a flash hits the princess’ mind. For a split second she felt her hands grasp cold metallic claws as adrenaline coursed through her body. A moment later she was herself again, except for one realization. Something was being attacked in Eirin’s clinic.

“… Wriggle’s in danger.”
“WHAT!?”
“We have to go to the clinic! She’s in danger!”
“At least let me put my shades- WAGH!”

Princess Wriggle got out of the bush bed first and immediately pulled WriggStar out. The princess didn’t even give WriggStar a chance to stand up as she flew off and dragged the hero by her belt.

“PRINCESS, PLEASE. YOU’RE PUSHING THE BELT BUCKLE INTO MY TUMMY.”
“THEN START FLYING.”

Coppers and Spiders

princesswriggleandwriggstar:

After a long, hard day of playing marriage and other standard insect youkai activities, Princess Wriggle was fast asleep.

But dreams previously consisting of caped heroes and frozen fairies soon took a turn for the sinister.

She was running, no, clawing her way through a small, unfamiliar tunnel, with grey arms that were not her own. No matter what happened, she knew, she had to reach the end of the tunnel before it was too late. Before it caught up to her. Heaving but hoping she hopped from one stone footing to another. There was no time to think, let alone look behind her,  the unnatural heat she felt on her uncovered back was enough to tell her that it was still on her heels. As the warmth grew stronger and harder to bare, there was little doubt that the distance between her and complete annihilation was quickly fading. When the temperature and the exhaustion almost overwhelmed her, she saw it. The end of the tunnel. The end of her world. Sweet purple salvation. The sight gave her the courage to do what she would soon regret. Casting a glance over her bleeding grey shoulder she saw a sight that would be almost literally burned into her retinas. A wall of unnatural fire, and a figure fitting of this nightmare.

falling…endlessly…drifting. In peace.

The princess woke up, but not as herself. She was already familiar with the dry skin and raspy throat from the time she touched the device in Wriggle’s cave. This vision was no different, though it felt almost clearer in a way, more defined. As her (or was it truly hers?) body set itself upright and her eyes rapidly adjusted to the darkness she realized where this vision had taken her. The walls of Eirin’s clinic were no stranger to the princess, but the crudely cut hole in one of them was. And so she was faced with what had awoken her, as she stared down the red glowing eyes of an eight legged machine.

Something pulling at the back of her mind.

Finally Princess Wriggle opened her own eyes. Left with unfortunate memories, a pounding headache and the warm metallic touch of a device she did not remember grabbing.

The princess gasped for air and grabbed her chest with one hand, and her head with the other hand. WriggStar rolled to her other side and slowly opened her eyes to look up at the other persona.

“Princess, what happened?”
“Haa… bad dreams, that’s all. My body feels weird.”
“You do look pale… want me to get your something?”

WriggStar sat up and put a hand on Princess Wriggle’s forehead, frowning as the princess whimpered.

“Can you look under the pillow, WriggStar?”
“Uh, sure?”

The hero lifted up the princess’s pillow and the first thing she saw was the strange device they brought back from the cave. She didn’t want to question why it was under the princess’s pillow, but something told her it probably was screwing with her sleep. Maybe. WriggStar picked it up and placed it on the princess’s lap, who then tapped the device with her index finger.

The first taps were fruitless, but after a third one a flash hits the princes’ mind. For a split second she felt her hands grasp cold metallic claws as adrenaline coursed through her body. A moment later she was herself again, except for one realization. Something was being attacked in Eirin’s clinic.
